Former HP Scholastic Junior All-Americans have gone
on to successful amateur and professional golf careers, including Casey Martin
(1989), Wendy Ward (1990), Kellee Booth (1992), Matt Kuchar (1994), Scott
Langley (2005) and Patrick Rodgers (2009, 2010).
The HP Scholastic Honor Roll recognizes those juniors who have achieved a
weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher, but who were not selected as HP

Practice round, Junior-Am, ready to play,
Excitement builds on tournament day,
No range at the course, find somewhere to hit,
Mark my balls, choose my outfit,
Measure my shorts, though it seems extreme,
Gotta verify the 5-inch inseam!
Sand bottle, scorecard, no range finder allowed,
I’m on the first tee in front of a crowd,
Players in the field from other countries, no doubt,
Language barrier? Act it out!
Golf is universal, wherever you are,
Everyone speaks bogey, birdie, and par,
Play the first round, post my score,
Start to head out, but wait… there’s more!
Tournament cookout, long drive contest,
Care for the Course, then a good night’s rest,
Next morning up early, round two underway,
But first, don’t forget the equipment survey!
It’s hot and humid, over 100 degrees,
But Operation Hydration puts our parents at ease,
Bad shot by my partner, shaft is snapped,
Hurled into the woods, then leg is slapped.
Official approaches, one stroke applied,
One hole later, behavior modified,
Play twelve holes, then a storm delay,
Will we finish 18 today?
Take cover in the clubhouse, socialize,
Hangout with friends, and time just flies!
Back on the course, need to hole this putt,
End of round two, made the cut!
Last round, standard bearers ready to go,
Brand new pairings and the field cut low,
Pressure’s on, coaches hover,
Low final round gets the Scotty headcover!
Red card issued, let’s get cracking,
Putt out, next tee, no time for slacking!
Double red card, now let’s all run,
Par, par, birdie, hole-in-one!
Blisters on feet, at times I limped,
Top Three Finish! Fully Exempt!
Winner gets the coveted Champion Bag,
Shows you’re legit – (hashtag) #golfswag,
Resumes, videos, watch me hit!
Unofficial visits, verbally commit!
