AJGA alum Dustin
Johnson earned his sixth career PGA TOUR victory at the FedEx St. Jude
Classic at TPC Southwind this weekend.
Only his second appearance since sustaining an injury
earlier this season, Johnson began the final round one shot off the lead, and
birdied five holes, including Nos. 16 and 17 to post 4-under 66 and win by one
shot.
From 1999 to 2002, Johnson appeared in five AJGA tournaments
with his best finish being T10 at the 2001 AJGA Greater Greensboro Chrysler Junior. Following his AJGA career, he went on to play for Coastal Carolina
University where he achieved All-American status twice and earned seven career
victories.
Johnson is one of the many AJGA Alumni who will play in the
U.S. Open beginning June 14.
AJGA Alumni and supporter Stacy Lewis continued her hot streak, tying for second with Mika
Miyazato, Eun-Hee Ji and Suzann Pettersen at the Wegmans LPGA Championship.
Having finished in the top-five in her last four tournaments, Lewis will
compete in the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic and the Walmart NW Arkansas
Championship before competing in the U.S. Women’s Open in July. Update: Johnson's best AJGA finish was corrected on June 13.
