Meet the Herr Siblings!

Q & A with the Herr Siblings!

This week, the AJGA dove head first into a Q & A with siblings Zachary and Erica Herr of New Hope, Pa. Zachary is a 2013 graduate and Erica is a 2014 graduate, making her the youngest player in the field at the Junior All-Star at Nemacolin last week! Here's what they had to say:

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Z: Morning person
E: Morning person

What made you decide to come to the Junior All-Star at Nemacolin?

Z: It is a nice course and it is only four hours from home. Also, it’s a resort so the whole family could come to enjoy the week.
E: It is the closest tournament to my home town. My dad also thought that it would be a good experience to get to know courses and how to play better overall.

How did your golf career get started?

Z: My dad and uncle played a lot and when I was little I would cry to go play with them. My uncle bought me my first set of clubs, and I’ve been playing ever since.
E: When I was younger I would watch my brother play, but I didn’t like watching it so I decided to just start playing myself.

What is your favorite season?

Z: Winter so I can stay in my house more.
E: Summer because it allows me to play more golf.

What is your biggest fear?

Z: Snakes, I’m glad I didn’t see any on the course today.
E: The dark! Oh and spiders.

Who is your role model?

Z: My Uncle Scott, I think he is cool. He is kind of good at golf, and he knows how to have fun. He is also successful at most of the stuff he tries.
E: Paula Creamer because she is always calm on the course. She doesn’t show her frustration. I try to be like her when I am on the course.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you take with you?

Z: My golf clubs, food – I like to eat a lot – and a comfy bed.
E: My blankie, my golf clubs, and my dog whose name is Calloway.

Since there is a zoo on this resort, if you could be any zoo animal which one would you choose?

Z: I’d want to be a giraffe so that I could look down on people. No for real though, I’d want to be a giraffe so that I could be really high up.
E: I would want to be a zebra. They run fast and so do I.

If you could take a vacation anywhere, where would you want to go?

Z: Aspen, I like the snow. I like outdoor, cold woodsy type places.
E: St. Johns because it is warm and they have nice hotels and really nice golf courses.

What is your favorite club in your bag?

Z: My putter. I just think I hit it the best.
E: My driver. I hit it well off the tee usually and that’s a good way to start a hole.
