Canon Cup Teams Rounded Out

The remaining spots for the East and West Canon Cup Teams have been named. On the East Team, Crawford Reeves of Greenville, S.C., and Kevin Phelan of St. Augustine, Fla., will join the eight other boys comprising the 10 boys for the East Squad. Joining the girls and rounding out the top-20 players east of the Mississippi are Lindy Duncan of Davie, Fla., and Kristina Wong of Bradenton, Fla.

Reeves, a 2009 graduate, burst onto the scene earlier this year with a victory at the Scott Robertson Memorial and medalist honors at the GolfWorld/Medicus Preseason Junior at Furman. He later went on to finish tied for seventh at the prestigious Rolex Tournament of Champions last week.

Phelan, also a 2009 graduate, was victorious at the Mizuno Junior at Innisbrook over Easter Weekend. He has played in three AJGA Invitational events so far this year with his top finish coming at the FootJoy Invitational in June where he tied for 12th.

Duncan will make her second Canon Cup East Team appearance after being a part of the team in 2007. Her top finish in 2008 is a tie for second at the Mizuno Junior at Innisbrook over Easter Weekend.

This will be Wong’s third Canon Cup appearance. The two-time Rolex Junior All-American has amassed six top-10 finishes already in 2008, including a victory at the SAP Junior Open.

For the West Team, the players rounding out the team have a mix of experience and youthful energy, as Anthony Paolucci of Dallas, Michael Jae Woo Im of Irvine, Calif., Victoria Sungmin Park, also of Irvine, and Sydney Burlison of Salinas, Calif., will head to The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn.

Paolucci was runner-up to fellow West Team member Cory Whitsett of Houston in the 2007 U.S. Junior Amateur. The 2007 Rolex Junior All-American also has two top-10 finishes in 2008 AJGA Invitationals including a tie for seventh at the Rolex Tournament of Champions.

Im, a 2007 Rolex Junior All-American, will be participating in his first Canon Cup. He was victorious in 2007 at the CORE Realty Holdings Junior at Old Ranch. Im has recently signed a National Letter of Intent with UC – Irvine to continue his golf career.

Park earned her spot on the Canon Cup West Team after two top-10 finishes in AJGA Invitationals, including a fourth-place finish at the Rolex Tournament of Champions. Currently ranked No. 16 in the Polo Golf Rankings, Park was named a 2007 Rolex Junior All-American.

Rounding out the West Canon Cup Team, Burlison will be participating in her fourth and final Canon Cup before heading to Stanford in the fall to continue her golf career. Burlison is currently ranked No. 12 in the Polo Golf Rankings and has earned four Rolex Junior All-America honors over the years.
