College Roundup

The NCAA Division II Women’s Championship finished with an AJGA alumna capturing the individual title. Joanna Coe of Rollins College won the individual championship with a 1-under-par 287, beating Florida Southern’s Heather Burgner by four shots and breaking the four-round championship scoring record by five shots. Coe and Rollins College also broke school records, both in the individual and team competitions.

Coe’s impressive performance at the NCAA Division II Women’s Championship is representative of her notable performances with the AJGA. Coe ended her AJGA career with five top-15 finishes.

Sandra Changkija, another AJGA alumna, also had an impressive showing in the individual competition, tying for ninth place.

Professional Roundup

AJGA alumna Lorena Ochoa pulled out an impressive win in the Sybase Classic presented by ShopRite. After a two-tournament drought, Ochoa returned to her winning ways. This tournament pushed Ochoa into new territory, as she is the fastest player on the LPGA Tour to break the $12 million mark.

Ryuji Imada claimed his first PGA TOUR victory Sunday, beating Kenny Perry in a playoff at the AT&T Classic, one year after losing in a playoff at the same event. Imada, who was the 1995 Rolex Junior Player of the Year, secured his ticket to next year’s Masters with the victory.
