2008 Annual Meeting

2008 Annual Meeting

The AJGA Annual Meeting is a gathering of tournament chairmen, Board members, sponsors and other supporters who are dedicated to helping the Association fulfill its Mission...

This year's meeting took place February 28-March 2 at Chateau Elan Resort, where the AJGA National Headquarters is located, in Braselton, Ga.

The meeting serves many purposes:

Award Winners Kris Strauss, Bobby Powell and Chris Dernick discuss their "best practices" during a breakout session.

Education: With breakout sessions this year focusing on media relations, Junior-Ams and a special session for new tournament chairmen, the AJGA prepares its local volunteers from across the country to run the best tournaments possible.

Saying Thank You: Because the volunteers provide so much time and energy to the AJGA, we say thank you in many ways. Tournaments and individuals are honored with awards at the Digger Smith Banquet, in recognition of their efforts to provide first-class tournament experiences. And with two rounds of golf in the afternoons, the AJGA makes sure the weekend is not all work and no play.

Idea Development: With the great minds in attendance, one session is devoted to small group discussions, geared toward charting the AJGA's path over the next five years and beyond.

Board Meeting: The first-quarter Board Meeting is always scheduled during the Annual Meeting, as the AJGA's Board of Directors gathers to discuss the AJGA's accomplishments, goals and opportunities.

Ultimately, the AJGA Annual Meeting is the launch pad toward what we hope will be another year of first-class tournaments that give our juniors the opportunities to earn college golf scholarships. The Annual Meeting is an opportunity to learn from each other's experiences and share ideas that will lift each tournament to a higher level.

The success of the meeting will be proven at each AJGA tournament, as well as in the AJGA's day-to-day service from the National Headquarters.

Here, you will find stories about the dedication and hard work of some of the AJGA's outstanding volunteers.

Leadership Links

What is Leadership Links?

Leadership Links is a new program whereby the AJGA is able to further its mission to help develop young men and women by teaching charitable giving skills and service-oriented practices at an early age. This program gives juniors all the tools necessary to donate their time, talent and resources to local charities and the AJGA youth development programs.
