Q & A: Meet Cory Whitsett

Q & A with...Cory Whitsett!

What is the best thing about playing in your hometown during this weekend's Houston Boys Invitational at Redstone presented by HP and Administaff?

C: The best thing about playing at home is being able to sleep in your own bed at night.

What are some of your pre-round routines or traditions?

C: I don't really do anything special. I just try sticking to my regular routine as usual.

Cory thinks chocolate chip cookie dough is definitely the way to go.

Mint chocolate chip or chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream?

C: Definitely chocolate chip cookie dough. Mint chocolate chip is terrible!

The best thing about living in Houston is...

C: The weather during the winter. But I need to be careful. It looks like we may not be in for a good one!

If you could trade places with anyone (living or dead) for a day, who would it be and why?

C: John D. Rockefeller. I am just so fascinated with those guys that were entrepreneurs.

What is the best family vacation you have ever taken and why?

C: The best family vacation we have taken was a fishing trip on the Texas coast because it was so relaxing. I got to fish and no one wanted anything from me.

Do you have any siblings?

C: I have three younger sisters. The best part about being the oldest is that I am put in control a lot of the time. That's good sometimes, but not all the time!

Cory is currently the No. 1-ranked player in the Polo Golf Rankings.

Aside from golf, what's your favorite sport to watch? What is your favorite team and player?

C: I love college football and my favorite team is the Oklahoma Sooners. I mainly like them because my parents went there, but they are also really good. My favorite player is DeMarco Murray, who is their running back.

What is a secret talent that you possess?

C: I have a quickly improving skill in the game of ping pong!

What was the last book you read and was it for school or for fun?

C: I read Pride and Prejudice. It was about a mom trying to marry off her daughters. It definitely was not a book I read for fun.
