College Round-up

Marquette won the Big East/MAC Challenge with a three-round score of 2-over-par 866. Mike Van Sickle earned medalist honors for the second week in a row with a 10-under-par 206 total and led the Golden Eagles to the tournament title. DePaul’s Matthew McMahon led his squad with a second-place finish at 2-under-par 214, while Seton Hall’s David Sampson and Bowling Green’s Matt Schneider finished tied for third at 1-over-par 217.

Sergio Franky

Texas Tech’s Sergio Franky captured medalist honors at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate with an 11-under-par 202 total. The Red Raiders posted a 21-under-par 831 total to win their third tournament title of the season. Kansas State’s Joe Ida finished second at 9-under-par, while Texas-Arlington’s Bobby Massa finished third at 8-under-par.

Louisville’s Derek Fathauer was named Golfweek’s Men’s Player of the Week after earning medalist honors at the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Championship with a 10-under 206 total. The Cardinals won the tournament with a total of 4-under-par 860, breaking the tournament record.

Western Kentucky’s Brent Long fired a final-round 63 to win the UTSA Roadrunner Intercollegiate by one shot with a school-record score of 16-under-par 200. The win was Long’s third of the month and earned him GolfWorld Player of the Week honors. St. John’s Mike Ballo Jr., finished second at 15-under-par and led the Red Storm to the team title.

UCLA’s Tiffany Joh and Maria Jose Uribe carded 1-over-par 217s to earn co-medalist honors at the Kent Youel Invitational. Joh and Uribe helped the top-ranked Bruins to a four-shot victory over Southern California and their second win of the season. USC’s Belen Mozo and Joanne Lee tied for third at 2-over-par 218, while UCLA’s Syndee Michaels finished 10th at 7-over-par 223.

Rollins College’s Joanna Coe carded an 8-over-par 224 total to earn medalist honors at the Ross Resorts Invitational...Middle Tennessee State’s Taryn Durham won a sudden-death playoff to earn medalist honors at the Pat Bradley Championship...Denver’s Katie Kempter carded an 8-under-par 208 total to win medalist honors at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.

Professional Round-up

Several former AJGA stars performed well at the PGA TOUR's Children's Miracle Network Classic. Scott Verplank, Bryce Molder, Justin Leonard, Jeff Overton and J.B. Holmes all finished in the top 10 at the event.
