AJGA Unveils New Srixon Qualifier Series
Entry Criteria
For the first time, the AJGA will abandon
its online ‘first-come, first-served’ policy
for filling its Srixon Qualifier fields. In 2007, players
who wish to gain entry into Srixon Qualifiers will no longer
be at the mercy of their Internet Service Provider, rather,
they will apply to a qualifier during a designated window
and be selected using a set criteria.
The rationale for this change is twofold.
The first-come, first-served method became entirely too stressful
for members and their parents. The AJGA felt that Internet
connection speed should not determine one’s likelihood
of gaining entry into a Srixon Qualifier.
Second, the AJGA crafted the criteria to
help mold the Srixon Qualifiers Series back into what it
was originally designed for: giving local players a chance
to participate in a national event.
Additionally, the new policy gives an added
advantage to rising seniors looking to showcase their skills
for college coaches during this important recruiting time.

new policy for filling Srixon Qualifier fields, read below.

Srixon
Qualifier Series Entry Criteria
Application Process: AJGA members must
apply for a qualifier during the application window which
begins the Friday after the tournament application deadline
at 3 pm ET and runs through Monday, 12 pm ET. The
order applications are received has no affect on the qualifier
field, however players must apply within this window to be
considered. Players who apply after this point will
be placed on an alternate list, after those who applied during
the application window, in the order they are received. Space
permitting, non-members may apply one week following the
Qualifier release to AJGA members.
The first 50 percent of the field will be filled
as follows:
Step 1: Rising seniors (2008 grads) from
the state of the qualifier who have yet to earn entry into
a tournament or qualifier during the current season
Step 2: Rising seniors (2008 grads) from
a bordering state of the qualifier who have yet to earn entry
into a tournament or qualifier during the current season
Step 3: All other rising seniors (2008
grads) who have yet to earn entry into a tournament or qualifier
during the current season
Step 4: All other rising seniors
The next 40 percent of the field will be filled
as follows:

or bordering state of the qualifier who have yet to earn
entry into a tournament or qualifier during the current
season

have yet to earn entry into a tournament or qualifier during
the current season
Step 7: All other non rising seniors
