Texeira Leads Boys Division of the Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic Hosted by Longbow Golf Club By Three Strokes
Ariya Jutanugarn tops Girls Division and sister by two strokes

MESA, Arizona – Jonah Texeira of Northridge, Calif., holds the lead after Saturday’s second round of the Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic hosted by Longbow Golf Club with a two-day total of 8-under-par 134. Ariya Jutanugarn of Bangkok, Thailand, leads the Girls Division at 7-under-par 135, taking a two-stroke lead into the final day.

Hosted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic hosted by Longbow Golf Club is a 54-hole stroke play tournament. The 144-player field at the par-71 Longbow Golf Club features 96 boys and 48 girls from 14 states, Canada, and Thailand. The Boys Division is playing at 7,000 yards and the Girls Division plays at 6,150 yards.

Texeira stayed consistent throughout his round by hitting fairways and greens in regulation. He made five birdies and his ability to putt was the key again for him in the second round.

“All of my hard work is finally paying off,” Texeira said. “I just have to keep focused and not get too ahead of myself for tomorrow.”

Beau Hossler of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., is in second after 36 holes after a second-round, 5-under-par 66. KK Limbhasut of Loma Linda, Calif., is four strokes off the lead with a two-day total of 138. In a tie for fourth place is Jake Knapp of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Daniel Chian of Covina, Calif., with two-day total of 3-under-par of 139.

Jutanugarn, a 2010 first-team Rolex Junior All-American, started on No. 10 and shot of 1-over-par 37 on her first nine, but rallied to card three birdies on her second nine to finish the day with a 2-under-par 69.

“On the front nine my putting was good,” Ariya said. “I still could have gone lower. I plan on playing the same as I did in the first and second round and just putt better.”

In second place is sister Moriya Jutanugarn with a two-day total of 137 after firing a second-round, even-par 71. In a tie for third place, four strokes off the lead at 139 is Gabriella Then of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Amy Lee of Brea, Calif. The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA provides valuable exposure for college golf scholarships, and has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of approximately 5,000 junior golfers from 49 states and more than 40 countries. To ensure scholarship opportunities for all junior golfers who have the skill, the AJGA created the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program to provide financial assistance to young players in need.
