Davis leads at 10-under-par through two rounds at the Traditions Club at Texas A&M
Sierra Sims extends her lead to seven shots at the Goodman Networks Junior at Traditions.

BRYAN, Texas — Branson Davis of McKinney, Texas, fired a 7-under-par 65 on Saturday to reach 10-under-par and lead the Boys Division by 10 shots through two rounds of the Goodman Networks Junior at Traditions. Sierra Sims of Austin, Texas, leads the Girls Division by seven shots at 6-under-par 138.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Goodman Networks Junior at Traditions is a 54-hole stroke play competition played on the par-72 Traditions Club at Texas A&M. The event features 90 boys and 43 girls, ages 12-18, from 21 states and seven countries. The Boys Division is playing the course at 6,978 yards while the Girls Division is playing the course at 6,094 yards. After the second round, the Boys Division was cut to the low 45 players and ties while the Girls Division was cut to the low 22 players and ties.

Davis is the only player in the field to record two rounds in the 60s, and Saturday's round included eight birdies, with a stretch of five consecutive birdies on the front nine. He will be looking for his second career AJGA victory on Sunday.

“I'm just going to try and keep doing the same thing tomorrow,” said Davis, who has verbally committed to the University of Georgia. “I'm feeling really confident so I'm not going to try and change anything.”

First-round leader Wes Artac of Kingwood, Texas, is in second place at even-par 144. In third place at 1-over-par 145 is Eloy Gonzalez of Laredo, Texas. Christopher Petefish of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Daniel De La Garza of Austin, Texas, are tied for fourth place at 2-over-par 146.

Sierra Sims followed Friday's 67 with a round of 1-under-par 71 that featured four birdies on the front nine and nine consecutive pars on the back nine.

“When I make a putt it just gives me confidence in my putting and when I'm hitting it close it just gets me feeling really good about my ball striking,” said Sierra Sims, who has verbally committed to the University of Florida. “I'm really excited, this is only the second time I've had the lead going into a final round.”

Allisen Corpuz of Honolulu sits in second place at 1-over-par 145 after firing a 5-under-par 67 on Saturday. Maddie Szeryk of Allen, Texas, is alone in third place at 4-over-par 146.
