HERR LEADER IN CLUBHOUSE, SECOND ROUND RESUMES THURSDAY AT CORSEMAX/PHILADELPHIA RUNNER JUNIOR
Rohrback extends her lead by five strokes at Stonewall Links - North Course

ELVERSON, Pa.- Thunderstorms suspended the second round for two hours Wednesday at the CorseMax/Philadelphia Runner Junior. The Boys Division will continue their second round at 7 a.m. Thursday with one group to finish. The current leader in the clubhouse is Zachary Herr of New Hope, Pa., at 2-under-par 138. The Girls Division completed the second round, as Kaitlyn Rohrback of Crofton, Md., holds her lead going into the final round at Stonewall Links- North Course after posting a 3-over-par 73.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the CorseMax/Philadelphia Runner Junior is a 54-hole stroke play event, with a 36-hole cut, being held at Stonewall Links — North Course in Elverson, Pa. The field includes 106 boys and 38 girls, ages 12-18, from 21 states, South Korea and Canada. The par-70 course is being played at 6,663 yards for the Boys Division and 5,748 yards for the Girls Division.

Herr holds a two stroke lead in the Boys Division, after firing a 5-under-par 65 in the second round. He jumped 13 places to take first in the clubhouse.

“I made good putts all day to make eight birdies,” Herr said. “On No. 11 I hit my drive to 110 yards, hit my second shot to two feet for an easy putt. It was my easiest birdie of the day.”

Right before the sirens blew to halt play, Herr hit a great drive on No. 18 against the wind.

“After the rain delay, which is always tough, I hit a 3-wood 20 yards short,” Herr said. “Then hit my third shot to 10 feet for a birdie.”

Atop the clubhouse leaderboard in second are Nick McLaughlin of New Castle, N.H., and Davis Schaller of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., at even-par 140. In fourth at 1-over-par 141 is Michael Werenski of South Hadley, Mass. Alex Hoffman of Myersville, Md., sits in fifth at 2-over-par 142.

In the Girls Division, Rohrback carded birdies on Nos. 6, 8, 10 and 13 to hold strong to the lead by five strokes.

“On No. 8, I made a good birdie with a ridiculously hard hole location,” Rohrback said. “My third shot stopped just short of the ridge off the green and dropped a 9-foot putt for birdie.”

Rohrback, who has verbally committed to Tennessee, said the course played a little tougher today but her putting game kept her competitive.

“My long putts dropped today,” Rohrback said. “I made a few bad club selections that left me short and tomorrow I will focus more on that.”

Aurora Kan of Boothwyn, Pa., who was the co-medalist at the K12 Qualifier Sunday, enters the final round in second at 6-over-par 146. Rounding out the Girls Division at 11-over-par 151 is Christine Shimel of Kennett Square, Pa.
