UNDER ARMOUR / HUNTER MAHAN CHAMPIONSHIP
TPC Craig Ranch
McKinney, Texas • April 24 - 26

SANCHEZ CAPTURES A ONE-STROKE LEAD AT TPC CRAIG RANCH
Hu leads at the Under Armour® / Hunter Mahan Championship

MCKINNEY, Texas — Alberto Sanchez of Nogales, Ariz., leads the Boys Division with a two-round total 3-under-par 141. In the Girls Division, Bonnie Hu of Fremont, Calif., holds a 2-stroke lead after facing fierce winds and tough competition.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Under Armour® / Hunter Mahan Championship features 48 boys and 24 girls — ages 12-18 — from 13 states and Canada. Past champions of the event include Rolex Junior All-Americans Cameron Peck, Cody Gribble, Peter Uihlein, Taylore Karle and Rachel Morris. The Boys Division is playing the course at 7,052 yards while the Girls Division is playing the course at 6,104 yards.

Sanchez is looking for his first AJGA victory after finishing tied for seventh at the Heather Farr Classic presented by Longbow Golf Club earlier this year. He carded a 1-under-par 71 in the first-round. In his second-round, he played even stronger carding five birdies on Nos. 3, 5, 10, 15 and 18, finishing his round at 2-under-par 70.

“I have never played 36-holes in one day,” Sanchez said. “During the round I felt really comfortable, I just tried to make pars and hoped for some birdies.”

One shot behind Sanchez, tied for second is Andrew Presley of Fort Worth, Texas, and Anton Arboleda of La Canada, Calif. In fourth is Michael Kim of Del Mar, Calif., with a two-round total 144. Rounding out the Boys Division tied for fifth place is Mario Clemens of Beverly Hills, Calif., and Johnathan Schnitzer of Houston, with a 1-over-par 145.

In the Girls Division, Hu finished in the top five at five AJGA tournaments last year and is looking for her first victory on Sunday. Leading the Girls Division after the first round, she carded a 4-under-par 68 and is still atop of the leaderboard. She posted nine birdies today including eight in the first round on Nos. 1, 4, 6, 7, 11, 12, 14 and 16.

“It was hard getting started in the second round, playing 36 holes is a long day and the wind was blowing the ball all over the place,” Hu said. “My feet hurt and I am tired. But I am going to do my normal routine tonight; I will practice putting in my hotel room as I do before each round.”

Two shots behind Hu is Mary Michael Maggio of Conway, Ark. Rachel Morris of Carlsbad, Calif., and Kayli Quinton of Cypress, Texas, are tied for third with a two-round total of 148.
