MAYORS JUNIOR ALL-STAR INVITATIONAL
The Country Club at Mirasol
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. • October 10 - 13

SECOND ROUND OF MAYORS JUNIOR ALL-STAR INVITATIONAL CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
Final Round scheduled for Monday shotgun

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.  β€” After a five and a half hour weather delay, the second round of the Mayors Junior All-Star Invitational was cancelled due to inclement weather in the Palm Beach, Fla., area. Final-round play at The Country Club at Mirasol will resume Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Mayors Junior All-Star Invitational is a 36-hole stroke play event being held at the Sunset Course at The Country Club at Mirasol. The 77-player field features players from 19 states, Canada and South Africa. The par-72 course is being played at 6,904 yards for the Boys Division, and 6,008 yards for the Girls Division.

Threatening weather forced evacuation of the golf course at approximately 8:10 a.m. after only two groups had left each of the starting tees. After more than five hours of delay, the Tournament Committee decided to cancel the round due to continuing weather concerns and the lack of necessary time to reasonably complete a round on the Sunset Course.

β€œIt's unfortunate that Mother Nature didn't cooperate today,” Tournament Director Whitney Ross said. β€œOur No. 1 priority is the safety of our members while playing as much golf as we can. We are hoping for clear skies and 18 holes of golf tomorrow.”

Austin Roberts of Carmichael, Calif., will take Boys Division lead into the final round after firing a 4-under-par 68 in the first round. In the Girls Division, Yueer Cindy Feng of Orlando, Fla., will set the pace for the field after shooting a 1-under-par 71 on Saturday.

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.

Rolex Watch USA, which is in its third decade of AJGA support, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004. In 2007, after 12 years of support, Polo Ralph Lauren became the AJGA's second Premier Partner.

AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. More than 160 former AJGA juniors currently play on the PGA and LPGA Tours and have compiled more than 300 wins. AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Stewart Cink, Davis Love III, Cristie Kerr, Pat Hurst, Paula Creamer, Brittany Lincicome, Morgan Pressel and Julieta Granada.

The final round shotgun start will be at 8:30 a.m. on The Country Club at Mirasol's Sunset Course. For more information about the Mayors Junior All-Star Invitational, please contact Tournament Headquarters at (770) 861-0519.
