DALINKA TAKES VICTORY IN BOYS DIVISION AT CRESTWOOD COUNTRY CLUB
Kennedy seals the win in Girls Division

REHOBOTH, Mass., - Brandon Dalinka of Newtown, Pa., took top honors in the Boys Division of the AJGA Rhode Island Classic after firing a 10-under-par 203 tournament total. Casey Ann Kennedy of Venice, Fla., won the Girls Division by posting a 14-over-par 227 tournament total.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the AJGA Rhode Island Classic was a 54-hole stroke play event held at Crestwood Country Club. The 99-player field featured players from 21 states and Ontario. The par-71 course played at 6,447 yards for the Boys Division and 5,898 yards for the Girls Division.

In the Boys Division, Dalinka said it feels good to win, especially since this is his first AJGA Open event of his AJGA career.

“I'll probably just play Open events now,” Dalinka said. “The competition helps me play better.”

After scoring 69-66 in the first two rounds, Dalinka came into the final round playing shot-by-shot and not worrying about the rest. With birdies on Nos. 7, 9, 11, 13 and 17 Dalinka finished with a 1-under-par 34 on the front nine and a 2-under-par 34 on the back nine for a 3-under-par 68 on the day.

Mark Pollak of San Antonio finished in second place with a 3-under-par 210 tournament total. Taylor Szyndlar of Jupiter, Fla., finished in third place carding a 1-under-par 212 tournament total. Finishing in fourth was Cameron Wilson of Rowayton, Conn., posting an even par 213 tournament total. While Ben Heisey of New Bern, N.C., and Wilson Bowen of Winnetka, Ill., tied for fifth place recording 2-over-par 215 tournament totals.

In the Girls Division, Kennedy said she used good putting to help her gain her first AJGA victory.

“On the back nine, I was sinking everything within 10 feet,” Kennedy said. “It feels great to win; this is exactly what I've been working for.”

Kennedy said she loves the competition the AJGA offers and after the win this week she hopes it will give her the opportunity to play in more tournaments.

“The experience these players have to offer helps me be a better player,” Kennedy said. “They are the future of the LPGA.”

Stani Schiavone of Bangor, Pa., finished alone in second place carding a 16-over-par 229 tournament total. Tracy Martin of Tyngsboro, Mass., and Meghan Chapman of Seminole, Fla., tied for third recording 17-over-par 230 tournament totals.

Titleist, the AJGA's National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association's success since 1989.
