HE HOLDS ONTO LEAD BY TWO STROKES AT FLINT ELKS LODGE 222 GOLF CLUB
Frasier takes lead in Girls Division posting even-par 144 tournament total

FLINT, Mich.,- After the second round of the Randy Wise Junior Open Zeyu He of Bradenton, Fla., continues his lead in the Boys Division shooting a 4-under-par 140. Danielle Frasier of Encinitas, Calif., leads the Girls Division by recording an even-par 144.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Randy Wise Junior Open is a 54-hole stroke play event held at Flint Elks 222 Lodge Golf Club. The 99-player field features players from 20 states, Canada and South Korea. The course is being played at 6,922 yards for the Boys Division and 6,093 yards in the Girls Division.

He said with a combination of strong winds and a few mistakes, he struggled until the last few holes when he made birdies on Nos. 13 and 16. He's comeback on the back nine led him to a 37-36 for a 1-over-par 73 day total.

“Tomorrow I'll be practicing a little bit on the greens,” He said. “I need to watch the yardage on the par 3s, keep calm and keep going.”

In second is Jae Han Chun of Ansung-City, South Korea carding a 2-under-par 142. Currently in third place is Mark Mumford of Rye, N.Y., posting a 1-under-par 143. Michael Murray of Bradenton, Fla., is in contention for fourth, shooting an even-par 144. Standing in fifth is Colin Van Es of Granger, Ind., recording a 1-over-par 145.

Frasier, a 2006 Rolex Junior All-American, said it feels good to have the lead going into the final day because it means she can stay on top and not have to come back from behind. She said better putting and her birdies on Nos. 1, 4, 10, 13, 15 and 18 contributed to putting her atop the leaderboard.

“I just want to play solid golf tomorrow,” Frasier said. “My work paid off.”

Currently in second place is Shannon Warner of Livonia, Mich., carding a 3-over-par 147 tournament total. Tied for third are Justine Chen of Lake Forest, Calif., Brooke Bettis of St. Charles, Ill., and Milena Savich of Carmel, Ind., all shooting 7-over-par 151 tournament totals.
