WEWORSKI 9-UNDER-PAR AFTER TWO ROUNDS AT ANGEL PARK GOLF CLUB

Salvo up one stroke at Las Vegas Founders Junior Golf Championship presented by Meadow Gold Dairy

LAS VEGAS — Tyler Weworski of Carlsbad, Calif., is atop the Boys Division at 67-66 — 133 after Wednesday's second round of the Las Vegas Founders Junior Golf Championship presented by Meadow Gold Dairy. Sarah Salvo of Glendale, Calif., is also still leading the Girls Division by one stroke with a two-day score of 148 on the Mountain Course at Angel Park Golf Club.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, The Las Vegas Founders Junior Golf Championship presented by Meadow Gold Dairy is a 54-hole stroke play event being held on the Mountain Course at Angel Park Golf Club. The 84-player event features 63 boys and 21 girls, 48 of whom from California and 14 from Arizona. The boys are playing from 6,680 yards and the girls are playing from 5,902 yards.

Weworski was joined in his pairing by E.J. Kahn of Los Angeles, Calif., who shot 2-under-par 69, and Nicholas Losole III of Scottsdale, Ariz., who shot a tournament-best 8-under-par 63. Despite the tough competition, Weworski built a two-stroke lead going into the final round.

“I stayed calm out there and had a great time with my group today,” Weworski said. “I'm just going to keep feeding off the other players and try to make birdies.”

Rounding out the top five in the Boys Division are Losole III at 135, Ryan Sheffer of Tucson, Ariz., at 136, Coy Breen of San Antonio, Texas at 137, and Michael Gideon of Lancaster, Calif., and Rak Cho of Torrance Calif., both at 138.

In the Girls Division, Salvo carded a 1-over-par 72 Tuesday and followed with a 5-over-par 76 Wednesday to take the top spot on the leaderboard. She recorded two birdies on the day and said she is surprised to be in the lead going into the final round.

“I need to stay consistent, keep it in regulation, and do my best to putt well tomorrow,” she said. “I don't have to play safe, necessarily. I just have to play.”

Filling the other top spots on the Girls leaderboard are Sehee Kim of Maricopa, Ariz., and Lindy LaBauve of Scottsdale, Ariz., tied for second place at 149.
