COLVIN SHOOTS 8-UNDER-PAR 64 TO CLAIM VICTORY IN NORTH FORT MYERS
Chen takes Girls Divison after final round of Taylor Woodrow Junior at Magnolia Landing

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. β€” Andrew Colvin of Longwood, Fla., fired off a personal-best, 8-under-par 64 during the final round of the Taylor Woodrow Junior at Magnolia Landing Thursday to claim the Boys Division title with a tournament total 16-under-par 200. Doris Chen of Bradenton, Fla., was the winner for the girls after carding a 6-under-par 66 in the final round for a three-day total of 2-under-par 214.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Taylor Woodrow Junior at Magnolia Landing was a 54-hole stroke play event held at The Golf Club at Magnolia Landing. The 84-player field featured players from 15 states, the Cayman Islands, Switzerland and Poland. The Girls Division played the The Golf Club at Magnolia Landing at 6,043 yards, while the Boys Division played it at 6,843 yards.

Colvin recorded six birdies and an eagle during the final round on the way to his first AJGA victory. He said the win helped him feel more confident about his game.

β€œIt's kind of a feeling of relief knowing I can do it now,” Colvin said. β€œI was able to give myself options on the course and that seemed to allow me to score a lot better.”

Behind Colvin in the Boys Division was Phillip Choi of Orlando, Fla., who shot a 6-under-par 66 during the final round to finish at 11-under-par 205 for the tournament. Two strokes behind Choi in third place was Mateusz Jedrzejczyk of Warsaw, Poland, who finished with a 9-under-par 207. Joe David of Madison, Tenn., finished fourth with a 7-under-par 209, and Zhong Yang Fu rounded out the top five, carding a three-day total of 6-under-par 210.

Doris Chen turned things around after an opening round of 6-over-par 78, carding seven birdies on the day. Her 6-under-par 66 was the only sub-par round of the day in the Girls Division and helped Chen secure her first AJGA title.

β€œI feel really good β€” great actually.” Chen said. β€œI don't have other feelings now, but I will yell and celebrate a little too.”

In second place for the girls was Michelle Shin of Cape Coral, Fla., who finished at even-par 216 for the tournament. Christina Miller of Bradenton, Fla., came in third with a three-day total of 4-over-par 220.
