| KREPS FIRES 1-UNDER-PAR TO TAKE MEDALIST HONORS Ormson wins by five-strokes at Srixon Qualifier
HARBOR SPRINGS, Mich. — Justin Kreps of Pittsburgh,
Pa., fired a 1-under-par 71 to take medalist honors in the Srixon
Qualifier for the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands. In
the Girls Division, Anne Ormson of Granger, Ind., carded a 2-over-par
74 to finish five strokes ahead of the field.
The Srixion Qualifier Series for the Coca-Cola Junior Championship
at Boyne Highlands was an 18-hole shotgun qualifier presented by the
American Junior Golf Association at Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor
Springs, Mich. The 99-qualifier field boasted 83 boys and 16 girls from
14 states and two countries.
Kreps strung together three consecutive birdies on the back nine en
route to besting the field by two strokes taking medalist honors. The
win was his first in a Srixon Qualifier event. He will turn his
attention to the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands which
he will play in this week.
“I felt really good today and things really began to click,” Kreps
said. “I had some good up and downs that really helped me out there.”
Also qualifying in the Boys Division were Nicholas Carbary of
Kalamazoo, Mich., Cabe Prieskorn of Texarkana, Texas, Alexander Lyall
of Novi, Mich., Robert Blaker of New Castle, Ontario, Andrew Mackessy
of Dublin, Ohio, Peter Jensen of Okemos, Mich., Benjamin Yacko of
Toledo, Ohio, Nicholas Marshall of Grand Ledge, Mich., and Mark
Reinhold and Rob Stewart both of Cincinnati.
In the Girls Division, Ormson was able to take advantage of good breaks to earn her first
Srixon Qualifier medal. She will now play in the Coca-Cola Junior
Championship at Boyne Highlands, as she is in search of her first AJGA
tournament win.
“I putted very well today and got a lot of shots up and down,”
Ormson said. “It really felt like a practice round and hopefully it
will help in the tournament.”
Alex Brown of Potomac, Md., and Colleen
Lienesch of Centerville, Ohio, qualified for the Coca-Cola Junior
Championship at Boyne Highlands.
The American Junior Golf Association is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit
organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young
men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through
competitive junior golf. The largest association of its kind, the AJGA
has a junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of approximately
5,000 junior golfers from 50 states and 30 foreign countries.

and Paula Creamer.
First round action will begin Tuesday, July 4 with an 8:30 a.m.
