Academy Sports

ACCUSPORT International, Inc., “The Official Launch Monitor of the AJGA” beginning in 2010, will have Vector launch monitors available for AJGA junior golfers to gather instant data on their swing, including launch angle, ball speed, backspin, side spin and side angle. Additionally, the partnership features the AccuSport Championship hosted by Webb Simpson, AJGA alum and current PGA TOUR player. The event will be held Aug. 16-19, 2010, in Winston Salem, N.C., home to Simpson’s alma mater, Wake Forest University, and AccuSport’s headquarters.


ALDILA, a designer, marketer and manufacturer of graphite golf shafts, has supported the AJGA since 2007. This year, Aldila will help bring a Junior-All Star event to Robinson Ranch Golf Club, July 12-15.

 

ANNIKA Foundation

ANNIKA FOUNDATION, an integral part of the ANNIKA Invitational since its inception in 2009, is dedicated to providing inspirational experiences, and education and financial resources that will help children in need realize their full potential.

AT&T

AT&T, Inc., one of the world’s largest telecommunications holdings companies and the largest in the United States, will again partner with the AJGA to host the AJGA Junior at Steelwood presented by AT&T, June 1-4. AT&T has supported the Alabama event since 2008.

BAG BOY, "The Preferred Push Cart of the AJGA," has been a partner since 2008. The technology leader sponsors the Bag Boy Multimedia Center, home to all AJGA videos, tournament v-blogs and photos.

BASS PRO SHOPS, a major catalog and Internet retailer, has supported the Bass Pro Shops / Payne Stewart Junior Championship since 2007. Established in 1972, Bass Pro Shops has evolved into the No. 1 "Outdoor Retailer in America," according to the Sporting Goods Business magazine in 2007, and annually serves more than 75 million sportsmen. The AJGA event is held in Springfield, Mo., where the company’s national headquarters is located.

BOB ESTES, PGA TOUR professional, continues his hometown support of an event in Abilene. The AJGA alum has sponsored the Bob Estes Abilene Junior since 2006 – the long-running event will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2010.

 

BURGETT H. MOONEY, JR. FOUNDATION The AJGA's Rome (Ga.) tournament is named after Mooney, the former publisher of the Rome News-Tribune who passed away in 2002. Among the many things Mooney will be remembered for was his passion for golf and the strict enforcement of the rules.

 

Callaway

CALLAWAY GOLF, a company dedicated to creating products and services designed to make every golfer a better golfer, has served as a Premier Sponsor of the ANNIKA Invitational since 2009. Callaway Golf also provides tournament gifts to the field at the Thunderbird International Junior and the HP Boys Championship at Carlton Woods.

THE CLUB AT CARLTON WOODS began its partnership with the AJGA in 2009, co-sponsoring the HP Boys Championship at Carlton Woods, one of the longest-running events on the Association schedule.

ClubCorp, the world leader in private clubs, will host the ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior, June 21-24, 2010. The 29th annual event features play on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course, home to the LPGA’s Kraft Nabisco Championship since 1972, and as is tradition for the pros, AJGA winners follow up their win with a honorary “Champion’s Leap” into the water surrounding the 18th green.

 

COCA-COLA, the world’s leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of nonalcoholic beverage concentrates and syrups, returns to the AJGA schedule in support of the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands. The event, supported by Coca-Cola in Michigan since 2003, will be held July 5-8.


CORSEMAX, an integrated business solutions company, returns to support the CorseMax/Philadelphia Runner Junior, Aug. 2-5. The event began in 2005 and has always been conducted in the Philadelphia area.

 

DB

DEUTSCHE BANK PARTNERS FOR CHARITY JUNIOR SHOOT OUT began its first of three years in the northeast in 2009, as part of Deutsche Bank’s long-standing commitment to social responsibility and community involvement. Deutsche Bank joined the AJGA in 2008 as an endowing partner of the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program.

 

ELBIT SYSTEMS OF AMERICA, a full-service electronics supplier, brings the Elbit Systems of America Junior Championship back to the Fort Worth area, June 21-24. The event, held since 2007, has featured a army-outfitted Hummer and bass fishing at the cookout.

 

Emerson

EMERSON, a diversified global manufacturing and technology company, will sponsor its third-annual West Coast event in 2010 with the Emerson Junior Golf Classic at Maderas Golf Club. Emerson began its support of the AJGA in 2008.

 

EXIDE TECHNOLOGIES, one of the world's largest producers, distributors and recyclers of lead-acid batteries, has become a supporter of the AJGA in 2010 through the Exide Technologies Junior Open event. The first-year event will be conducted at The Country Club of the South April 23-25.

 

FRANKLIN AMERICAN MORTGAGE COMPANY, a privately-held mortgage banking firm located in Franklin, Tennessee, began its partnership with the AJGA in 2009, lending support to the AJGA Franklin Junior presented by Franklin American Mortgage Company.

 

THE GELBER GROUP, a unique full-service financial company, has provided financial support of the Midwest Junior Players Championship since 2003. The event ran from 1988-1998 and was suspended until its revival in 2003.

GAA

GOLF ACADEMY OF AMERICA, the oldest and largest two-year golf career college in the world, in 2009 began its sponsorship of the Golf Academy of America Preseason Junior Series, a set of eight events designed specifically to give members their first AJGA playing opportunity.

 

GOLF PRIDE, the makers of the softest grip available, has sponsored its North Carolina event at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club from 2010-2008 and 2006. Previous venues for the Golf Pride Junior Classic were National Golf Club (2007) and Country Club of North Carolina (2005) and The Peninsula Club (2004).

 

The Greenbrier

THE GREENBRIER, an award winning, five-diamond luxury resort and hotel in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., began hosted the Woodward Video Junior at The Greenbrier in 2008. The resort was awarded a PGA TOUR event, The Greenbrier Classic, which will be held July 26 - Aug. 1, 2010.

 

INNISBROOK RESORT & GOLF CLUB has hosted 23 AJGA tournaments, beginning with the inaugural American Junior Classic (now Polo Golf Junior Classic) in the AJGA's first year of existence (1978).

JIM MCLEAN GOLF SCHOOLS, is a first-year supporter of the Aspen Golf Classic presented by Jim McLean, which will be conducted at Aspen Golf Club, June 7-10.

 

K12

K12, the national leader in K-12 curriculum and online school programs, served as title sponsor of the K12 Qualifier Series in 2009. K12 Qualifier Series events will offer more than 5,000 playing opportunities for juniors again in 2010.

THE TOWN OF KILLINGTON, located in the heart of Vermont’s Green Mountains, will sponsor the 2010 Killington Junior Golf Championship. The event will be the first AJGA tournament held in the state.

Laredo Energy

LAREDO ENERGY, a leader in natural gas development in South Texas, will title sponsor the Laredo Energy Junior at Traditions, April 1-4, 2010. Laredo Energy begun supporting the traditionally-strong field of AJGA junior golfers in 2009.

 

LESSING’S INC., a diversified food service concern that was established in 1890, will bring the 12th annual Lessing's AJGA Classic to Long Island. Lessing’s has supported a northeast AJGA event in New York since 1999.

 

LOCKTON COMPANIES, one of the largest, most respected and experienced insurance brokerage firms in the country, has supported a Kansas City-area event since 2003. The 2010 edition of the Lockton Kansas City Junior will be held at Kansas City Country Club in July.

 

Longbow

LONGBOW GOLF CLUB, listed by Golfweek as one of 2009’s Best Resort Courses, has hosted one of the most competitive AJGA Easter weekend 54-hole stroke play Open tournaments since 1999. Past champions of the Heather Farr Classic presented by Longbow Golf Club include Paula Creamer (2003, 2004) and Hunter Mahan (1999).

 

The MAYAKOBA GOLF CLASSIC, a PGA TOUR event in Mexico, will return to support the junior golf version of its event: the Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic. The event has annually been held on Playa del Carmen, Mexico, since 2007.

 

McArthur Towel & Sports

McARTHUR TOWEL & SPORTS, the leading manufacturer of licensed terry products, first began supporting a junior golf tournament – the McArthur Towel & Sports Future Legends event – in 2009. McArthur Towel & Sports is best known for its production of the Super Bowl Trophy Towel, Pittsburgh Steelers Terrible Towel and Gatorade Bench Towel in association with its production of licensed towels for professional sports teams and the NCAA.

MONTVERDE ACADEMY, a coeducational independent college preparatory boarding and day school, partnered with the AJGA as the title sponsor of the Montverde Academy Junior-All Star Invitational in 2009, the culminating event on the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series.

NATURAL RESOURCE PARTNERS, a company that owns and manages coal properties, as well as handles and transports coal in the three regions of the United States, has supported the Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior at Bellefonte Country Club in Ashland, Ky., beginning in 2004 as a title sponsor. The event has a long history with the AJGA – as it found its permanent home at Bellefonte Country Club in 1984 after no event in 1983 and rotating courses from 1981-1982.

 

Nemacolin

NEMACOLIN WOODLANDS RESORT, a family and luxury vacation destination on 3,000 wooded acres in the Laurel Highlands of Southwestern Pennsylvania, has hosted AJGA Open events since 2008. The Resort will be the title sponsor of the Nemacolin Junior Open in 2010.

OCALA MARION SPORTS COMMISSION, joins the AJGA for its first year of partnership, with its support of the Preseason Junior at Ocala hosted by Ocala-Marion Sports Commission April 16-18 at Golden Hills Golf & Turf Club.

The PGA TOUR will again support The Junior PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass over Labor Day weekend. Started in 2007, the event features the tournament setup of The PLAYERS Championship, and offers an extremely competitive opportunity for a field of select AJGA boys.

PHILADELPHIA RUNNER, located in the heart of Center City, is the place to gear up, run and have fun. Philadelphia Runner has supported the CorseMax/Philadelphia Runner Junior since 2005.

 

RANDY WISE AUTOMOTIVE TEAM, which consists of five automobile dealerships in southeast Michigan, will again conduct the title sponsor of the Randy Wise Junior Open. The Flint, Mich., event is one of the AJGA's longest running (since 1985) and has been supported by the Randy Wise Automotive Team since 2007.

 

RINGGOLD TELEPHONE COMPANY (Ga.) a local telecommunications provider, joins the AJGA schedule as partner of the Evitt Foundation RTC Junior All-Star. An event has been conducted in Ringgold, Ga., since 2003.

SCISSORTAIL GOLF CLUB began in 2008 as a way to support Oklahoma junior golf and has continued because of community support. The third-annual event will be held August 9-12 at Golf Club of Oklahoma.

State Mutual

STATE MUTUAL INSURANCE, extends its sponsorship of the Burgett H. Mooney, Jr. Rome Classic. The Rome, Ga., based insurance company has been involved since 2006.

 

STOCKTON SPORTS COMMISSION began supporting the AJGA and junior golfers in 2008 with the Stockton Sports Commission Junior Classic. The 2010 edition of the event will be held Aug. 2-5.

 

TEE UP GOLF MAGAZINE, a Japanese golf publication, continues its support of the TEE UP Junior Challenge presented by Kamen Rider Dragon Knight Cup. The event has been conducted at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif., since 2008. The event was also held at Industry Hills Golf Club (2007) and The Bridges Golf Club (2006).

 

The Legend at Bergamont

THE LEGEND AT BRISTLECONE, a top course in Wisconsin and rated 4 1/2 stars by Golf Digest, will host the McArthur Towel & Sports Future Legends event for the first time in the event’s history, which began in 2005 at sister course The Legend at Brandybrook.

THE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT, one of the most prestigious and well-regarded tournaments on the PGA TOUR, will sponsor the Columbus Junior presented by the Memorial. A part of the AJGA’s annual schedule since 2004, the Memorial Tournament has provided many opportunities for Midwestern junior golfers to showcase their skills for college golf coaches.

 

The Pacemaker

THE PACEMAKER, designed as a training device aimed to improve putting, for the first time supported an event in Las Vegas in 2009. This season marks the 21st annual season the AJGA has hosted an event in Sin City.

 

Trader Joe's

TRADER JOE’S, a neighborhood grocer with 300 stores in 25 states and Washington D.C., will support its third annual Trader Joe’s Junior Championship July 19-22. The Trader Joe’s Junior Championship featured LPGA star Pat Hurst in 2009.

 

True Temper

TRUE TEMPER, the world’s No. 1 shaft manufacturer, will offer a unique ambassador program for AJGA members as well as provide content for The AJGA Insider on custom fitting in 2010. True Temper will share its expertise to the AJGA and its members with a direct focus on equipment education and player/sponsor interaction.

Under Armour

UNDER ARMOUR®, a leading developer, marketer and distributor of branded performance apparel, footwear and accessories, partnered with PGA TOUR pro and AJGA alumnus Hunter Mahan to support an AJGA event in Texas for the first time in 2009.

VALERO TEXAS OPEN, a San Antonio tradition since 1922 and the third oldest PGA TOUR tournament, has supported the Valero Texas Open Junior Shootout since 2004. The San Antonio junior event began in 1992 and features impressive past champions such as Tiger Woods, Brittany Lang and Morgan Pressel.

The W. DUNCAN MACMILLAN CLASSIC AT RUSH CREEK was first staged in 2009 as a means to support Minnesota junior golf. This year’s event will be held June 28-July 1 at Rush Creek Golf Club.

 

Woodward Video

WOODWARD VIDEO, AJGA title partner since 2008, will support the Association’s lone event in West Virginia – the Woodward Video Junior at The Greenbrier, Sept. 3-6, in White Sulpher Springs. The event is held on the PGA TOUR’s newest venue which is also one of the most prestigious resort venues in the country.

ACE

The Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program provides financial assistance to junior golfers who wish to play in AJGA events. Its goal is to give top-flight golf opportunities to young golfers regardless of financial resources. This program helps to fulfill the AJGA’s mission of developing young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.

What is Leadership Links?

Leadership Links is a new program whereby the AJGA is able to further its mission to help develop young men and women by teaching charitable giving skills and service-oriented practices at an early age. This program gives juniors all the tools necessary to donate their time, talent and resources to local charities and the AJGA youth development programs.
