January 20, 2016 - Four juniors win first AJGA titles

With an opening weekend of two Opens and one ACDS Junior All-Star Series event, more than 225 junior golfers began their 2016 with AJGA competition. Between the East and West coast, four juniors won their first AJGA tournaments and in Puerto Rico, a Minnesota native won wire-to-wire in tropical conditions. Check out our highlights below:

Junior All-Star at El Conquistador • El Conquistador Golf & Tennis, Oro Valley, Ariz.

  • Teddy Tetak of Limbach, Slovakia, earned his first career victory at the AJGA Junior All-Star at El Conquistador with a tournament total of even-par 216. Tetak came back from a two-stroke deficit to second-round leader Max Ting of Atherton, California, and claimed the championship.
  • Like Tetak, Brooke Seay of Rancho Santa Fe, California, earned her first AJGA championship at the AJGA Junior All-Star at El Conquistador. Seay began the final round one stroke back of Madasyn Pettersen of Rockford, Illinois, but shot a final-round 1-over-par 73 to claim the top spot.
  • Seay now has recorded a top-15 finish in each of her AJGA events, with her previous best coming at the 2015 Ryan Moore Junior Championship at Anthem where she finished T5.
