There are two Oregon natives in the field who are looking to finish well in their home state. Riley Elmes of Lake Oswego, Oregon, is looking for his first AJGA win. The 18-year-old has signed a National Letter of Intent with Loyola Marymount University and will be attending in the fall. Elmes has had five AJGA top-10 finishes, and hopes to close out his junior career on a high note.

“This is my last tournament as a junior, being able to play it against some of the greatest junior players in the nation is awesome,” Elmes said. “I love coming to this place. It’s always a good time and it’s a great feeling to play close to home.”

Cole Madey of West Linn, Oregon, is looking to claim his second AJGA win at the Rolex Tournament of Champions. Madey is 18 years old and has signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of California, Los Angeles. He is competing in the Rolex Tournament of Champions for the first time, and has 10 top-10 finishes and a win at the 2012 Junior All-Star at Cypress Ridge. While the golf is great, Madey enjoys the whole experience.

“It’s one of my favorite places to come. Sunriver and Palm Springs are popular places for people from Portland to visit.” Madey said. “I also like it because if I’m not on the golf course, I can be on the river, at the pool or fishing.”

In addition to the players from Oregon, there are several players in the field who have committed to play college golf at the University of Oregon. Samuel Foust of Edina, Minnesota, has signed a National Letter of Intent, and is looking for his first AJGA win. Teddy Oitzman of Rancho Santa Fe, California, has given a verbal commitment and is also looking for his first AJGA win. In the Girls Division, Amy Matsuoka of Newport Beach, California, has also made a verbal commitment. The 17-year-old is playing in the Rolex Tournament of Champions for the second time. She previously won the 2013 and 2014 Lockton Kansas City Junior.
