AJGA alumnus Hunter Mahan earned a spot on the 2010 U.S. Ryder Cup team and claimed his first World Golf Championship title with a victory at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Sunday.

Mahan came from four strokes back, recording five birdies on the front nine to finish with a final-round 6-under-par 64 at Firestone Country Club. With the win, Mahan moved to No. 12 in the Official World Golf Ranking and claimed his second PGA TOUR victory of 2010.

He also won the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February.

Mahan has been a proud supporter of the AJGA and the Under Armour® / Hunter Mahan Championship since 2009. The event is held in his hometown of McKinney, Texas, at TPC Craig Ranch.

Long before he was earning PGA TOUR victories, Mahan was making a name for himself at the junior level. He was named the 1999 Rolex Junior Player of the Year after posting victories at the 1998 Polo Golf Junior Classic and the 1999 U.S. Junior Amateur. His match play abilities have carried over into his professional career. Mahan has been a member of two victorious Presidents Cup teams (2007, 2009) and a successful Ryder Cup team (2008). He has recorded a combined record of 6-4-4 in these matches.
