Wyndham Worldwide to endow ACE Grant

Wyndham Worldwide, one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, announced Monday during the Opening Ceremonies of the 2014 Wyndham Cup that it will establish an endowment to benefit the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant Program. Over the next four years, Wyndham Worldwide will give $100,000 to the AJGA to support talented junior golfers who lack the financial resources to play a national junior golf schedule.

“We are thrilled to give back to the community and invest in golf’s next generation,” said Alyson Johnson, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications. “We believe in enriching the lives of children in the communities where we live, work and play, and are proud of the fact that we have deep roots of providing service in our communities.”

Since its inception, the ACE Grant program has awarded 993 grants to 568 junior golfers, distributing more than $1.8 million. With the help of the ACE Grant program, talented junior golfers have received exposure to play at the next level, earning more than $12.8 million in college golf scholarships.

As one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, Wyndham Worldwide serves millions of guests every year, providing memorable vacation experiences in some of the world’s most beautiful destinations. Through its corporate social responsibility program and Wishes by Wyndham Foundation, the Company is committed to supporting many charitable organizations through in-kind donations, volunteer hours and by raising awareness and funds for those related to its mission.

Believing that they can “do well” for their business by “doing good” for their communities, Wyndham Worldwide has worked to integrate sustainability, diversity, philanthropy, human rights, and responsible corporate governance and business practices into its culture and how its businesses operate around the world since its introduction on the NYSE in 2006. The Company joins other AJGA ACE Grant corporate endowment partners including Rolex, HP, Deutsche Bank and the ANNIKA Foundation.

As an AJGA sponsor and Official Hotel sponsor since 2011, Wyndham Worldwide supports the annual Wyndham Cup as it celebrates 25 years on the AJGA schedule at Old Sandwich Golf Club in Plymouth, Massachusetts.  Established in 1990, the event features the nation’s top 40 juniors in an East-versus-West team match play tournament. The top 10 boys and top 10 girls east of the Mississippi River compete against their counterparts from the west.

Prominent alumni of the Wyndham Cup include: Morgan Hoffmann, Patrick Reed, Bud Cauley, Brian Harman, Brendon Todd, Chris Kirk, Webb Simpson, Bill Haas, Sean O’Hair, Bubba Watson, Lucas Glover, Charles Howell III, D.A. Points, Matt Kuchar, Stewart Cink, Jordan Spieth, Kyle Stanley, Rickie Fowler, Ryan Moore, Kevin Na, Martin Flores, Hunter Mahan, Tiger Woods, Lexi Thompson, Vicky Hurst, Morgan Pressel, Inbee Park, Brittany Lincicome, Julieta Granada, Jennifer Johnson, Jenny Shin, Mina Harigae, Tiffany Joh, Paula Creamer and Brittany Lang.

“We are pleased to welcome Wyndham Worldwide as a partner for the ACE Grant,” said AJGA Executive Director Stephen Hamblin. “Through the Wyndham Championship, Wyndham Worldwide has demonstrated its commitment to the PGA TOUR for 75 years and we are thrilled to have that support at the junior level as they provide opportunities for more young people to experience AJGA tournaments.”

AJGA alumni who have won the Wyndham Championship include Patrick Reed (2013), Sergio Garcia (2012), Webb Simpson (2011), Ryan Moore (2009), Carl Pettersson (2008), Brandt Snedeker (2007) and Davis Love III (2006, 1992).
