Schedule Spotlight: August 19-22

To better prepare AJGA members in the tournament application process, each week we will preview tournaments with upcoming application deadlines. The following tournament applications are now open and will close on Tuesday, July 16, at 5 p.m. ET.

The Randy Wise Junior Open will be played at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, Mich., August 19-22. Performance Based Entry is projected to fill 61 Boys’ spots and 18 Girls’ spots.

The tournament has been on the AJGA schedule since 1985 and added Randy Wise as the sponsor in 2007. This will be the event’s fourth straight year at the Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club. The country club was also the longtime home of the Buick Open. The 2012 Randy Wise Junior Open won the AJGA’s 2012 Tournament Media Award.

The JoS. A. Bank / David Leadbetter Championship will be played on The Original Course at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Md., August 19-22. Performance Based Entry is projected to fill 92 Boys’ spots and 31 Girls’ spots.

This will be the first year of the JoS. A. Bank / David Leadbetter Championship. The Turf Valley Resort will host its first AJGA event and will open the Original Course for the tournament. Strategically-placed bunkers and mature trees line the course.

The Lessing's AJGA Classic will be played on the River Course at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, N.J., August 19-22. Performance Based Entry is projected to fill 62 Boys’ spots and 19 Girls’ spots.

Lessing’s has sponsored the event since 1999. This is the second time Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club will host an AJGA event, after it hosted the 2012 Genesis Junior Open.

The Stockton Convention and Visitors Bureau Junior Open will be played at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, Calif., August 19-22. Performance Based Entry is projected to fill 61 Boys’ spots and 18 Girls’ spots.

The AJGA will return to The Reserve at Spanos Park for the sixth year. The Reserve at Spanos Park is rated 4.5 stars in Golf Digest’s “Places to Play.”

ACE

The Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program provides financial assistance to junior golfers who wish to play in AJGA events. Its goal is to give top-flight golf opportunities to young golfers regardless of financial resources. This program helps to fulfill the AJGA’s mission of developing young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.

Leadership Links

What is Leadership Links?

Leadership Links is a new program whereby the AJGA is able to further its mission to help develop young men and women by teaching charitable giving skills and service-oriented practices at an early age. This program gives juniors all the tools necessary to donate their time, talent and resources to local charities and the AJGA youth development programs.
