BRASELTON, Ga. – The AJGA will travel to Green Mountain National Golf Course in Killington, Vt., when 99 juniors compete in the Killington Junior Golf Championship Aug. 2-5.

“The people of the town of Killington have shown a commitment to welcoming world class athletes,” said John Dolan, AJGA northeast regional director. “The AJGA is proud to partner with the Town of Killington and its championship venue at Green Mountain National Golf Course.”
Opened in 1996, the par-71 course tops out at almost 6,600 yards and was designed by Gene Bates and Steve Durkee. Set among the scenic Green Mountains of Vermont, the facility was recognized by Golf Digest as the No. 1 “Public Course in Vermont.”
The Town of Killington is home to Killington Resort, one of the most popular ski and snowboard areas in North America as well as two of Vermont’s most challenging and popular PGA Championship Golf Courses. During the summer, Killington also offers a wide variety of family-oriented activities such as hiking, biking, fly fishing and a series of annual events including the Killington Stage Race, the Killington Wine Festival, the Cooler in the Mountains Summer Concert Series, the Killington Music Festival, the Killington Classic Motorcycle Touring Rally, and more.       “We are delighted to partner with the AJGA and bring some of the country’s best junior golfers and their families to Killington this summer,” said Seth Webb, Killington Director of Tourism and Economic Development. “In addition to the excitement on the golf course, we expect a busy week for lodging and restaurants too.”
The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA provides valuable exposure for college golf scholarships, and has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of approximately 5,000 junior golfers from 49 states and 30 countries. To ensure scholarship opportunities for all junior golfers who have the skill, the AJGA created the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program to provide financial assistance to young players in need.
Titleist, the AJGA's National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association's success since 1989. Rolex Watch USA, which is in its third decade of AJGA support, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004. In 2007, after 12 years of support, Polo Ralph Lauren became the AJGA's second Premier Partner.
AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. More than 200 former AJGA juniors currently play on the PGA and LPGA Tours and have compiled more than 350 wins. AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Stewart Cink, Davis Love III, Cristie Kerr, Pat Hurst, Paula Creamer, Brittany Lincicome, Morgan Pressel and Julieta Granada.
