AJGA adds PBE Qualifiers to 2012 schedule

In an effort to make national junior golf competition even more accessible to its growing membership, the AJGA has introduced PBE Qualifiers as an additional way for members to earn Performance Based Entry status for AJGA tournament entry.

PBE Qualifiers are 18- and 36-hole events that provide a platform for junior golfers who have had limited AJGA playing opportunities to compete and continue building Performance Based Entry status. These events will help members transition to Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series and AJGA Open tournaments.

The 2012 schedule includes six 18-hole and two 36-hole PBE Qualifiers, and begins with a PBE Qualifier in Ringgold, Ga., June 3. In all, PBE Qualifiers will provide 796 playing opportunities.

Who should play?
PBE Qualifiers may be a perfect fit for members who missed the opportunity to play in an IMG Golf Academy Preseason event, got a late start with the AJGA or have not yet accumulated the Performance Based Entry status needed to gain entry into AJGA competitive-entry category tournaments.

Any AJGA member may apply for a PBE Qualifier prior to the application deadline. Applicants will be ranked according to the number of AJGA playing opportunities (Tournament and Qualifier) he/she has been accepted to or played during the current and previous season, relative to the application deadline. Applicants with the fewest opportunities will have the higher priority of gaining entry into a PBE Qualifier.
