Save The Dates

Having just completed a record-breaking season that saw membership and playing opportunities reach all-time highs in 2010, the AJGA has compiled 90 tournaments for its 2011 schedule, which is the highest single-season total in the Association's 34-year history.

The AJGA will continue to bring premier national junior golf tournaments to its membership, as 29 states, Mexico, Ireland and Puerto Rico will host events in 2011. Nearly two-thirds of the schedule are Open events, where tournament fields are primarily determined using Performance Based Entry.

The AJGA's newest and youngest members will have more opportunities next year, as the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series and the Preseason Junior Series schedules have each expanded.

Nine Preseason events will be played in seven states, while 11 Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star events will be played in eight states.

AJGA Invitationals will continue to showcase junior golf's elite players. In addition, the world's top female juniors will compete in the biennial PING Junior Solheim Cup, which will be played in Trim, Ireland.

A combination of new venues and facilities rich with AJGA tradition creates a 2011 schedule that will offer several playing opportunities for AJGA members of all ages and skill levels.

Preseason Junior Series

As the most basic entry point into AJGA competition, the Preseason Junior Series will include nine tournaments during the months of April and May 2011. Six of the venues hosted an AJGA event in 2010, while Cypress Ridge Golf Course in San Luis Obispo, Calif., will host its first AJGA tournament, May 6-8.

Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series

The AJGA's youngest members will have a chance to shine in the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series, which is specifically designed for boys and girls ages 12-15. The 10-tournament schedule features three spring tournaments, including the Junior All-Star at Château Élan over Easter weekend (April 21-24). The series' top finishers will earn spots in the season-ending Montverde Academy Junior All-Star Invitational (Oct. 7-10).

Open Events

Fifty-nine of the AJGA's 90 tournaments in 2011 will be Open events. Spanning 28 states, Mexico and Puerto Rico, AJGA Open tournaments are the backbone of each year's schedule and will offer thousands of playing opportunities.

The calendar year will begin with the AJGA's first trip to Puerto Rico, as 78 players will compete in the Puerto Rico Junior Open, Jan. 14-17. The 54-hole tournament will be played at Trump National Golf Club, and the Boys Division champion will earn an exemption into the PGA TOUR's Puerto Rico Open presented by seepuertorico.com.

The northeast schedule includes the Genesis Junior at White Beeches in Haworth, N.J., while Stonehenge Golf & Country Club in Winona Lake, Ind., has been added to the midwest slate. Forest Creek Golf Club in Pinehurst, N.C., will host the Golf Pride Junior Classic and is a highlight of the southeast schedule, while Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, Mich., will host the Randy Wise Junior Open for the second year in a row.

Two staples on the AJGA schedule will celebrate their 30th anniversaries in 2011. The ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior (June 20-23) will be played at Mission Hills Country Club's Dinah Shore Tournament Course in Rancho Mirage, Calif., while the Ashland, Ky., community will host the Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior (June 14-17) at Bellefonte Country Club.

Additionally, the AJGA will host a pair of Open events in Mexico for the second year in a row. The Mexican Golf Federation Junior Open (July 4-7) and the Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic (Aug. 15-18) will provide playing opportunities for the AJGA's growing Mexican membership.

Invitationals

Twelve Invitationals will give the world's top players a chance to compete at professional-level venues, such as Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. (home of the FootJoy Invitational and the PGA TOUR's Wyndham Championship) and Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon (host of the 2010 Rolex Tournament of Champions).

The Invitational schedule begins Presidents Day weekend with the ANNIKA Invitational in Reunion, Fla., and the HP Boys Championship at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas, while the calendar year will close at PGA National Resort & Spa for the Polo Golf Junior Classic (Nov. 19-25).
