AJGA Partners with Exide Technologies for Atlanta-area Event
Exide Technologies Junior Open to be held at Country Club of the South

BRASELTON, Ga. – The American Junior Golf Association announced Tuesday a new partnership with Exide Technologies (NASDAQ: XIDE, www.exide.com), a global leader in stored electrical energy solutions. The Country Club of the South will play host to the Exide Technologies Junior Open to be held April 23 – 25 in Johns Creek, Ga.

As one of the world’s largest producers, distributors and recyclers of lead-acid batteries, Exide’s products and services span global markets and geographic borders, melding bases of experience and technology from its Transportation, Industrial Energy and ReStore Energy Systems divisions.

Exide also is a civic leader dedicated to serving the communities in which it operates. A beneficiary of Exide Technologies, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA) will receive funding through the Exide Technologies Junior Open Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament.

“Exide prides itself in corporate responsibility, and mentoring children is a strong pillar of our community activism.  Through our partnership with AJGA as title sponsor of this year’s Junior Open, our Company is supporting young athletes,” said Gordon A. Ulsh, Chief Executive Officer of Exide Technologies.   “Exide has had an alliance with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta for more than a year, and by designating this organization as our charity of choice for the AJGA tournament, we are utilizing a new opportunity to positively influence the lives of at-risk children.”

The AJGA has a long history of giving back to local communities through tournament fundraising efforts, making the partnership with Exide a natural choice.

“We are excited to partner with Exide, a dedicated BBBSMA supporter, and the AJGA, an organization that also is committed to developing youth,” said Janice McKenzie-Crayton, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta.  “This incredible support helps us to continue serving children in this community.”

2010 marks the first year that Exide Technologies sponsors the AJGA Junior Open, which will bring 78 of the nation’s top junior golfers to Johns Creek for 36 holes of competition.

“We are looking forward to this event and are excited to build long-standing relationships with both Exide Technologies and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta,” said Preston Etheridge, AJGA Southeast Regional Director. “This is the first of what we hope to be many years of the Exide Technologies Junior Open.”
