Golf Academy of America to Sponsor AJGA Preseason Series

BRASELTON, Ga. — Golf Academy of America , a two-year golf career college, announced its sponsorship of the American Junior Golf Association’s Preseason Junior Series.

The Golf Academy of America Preseason Junior Series is a series of eight events which will be held from March to May 2009 and offer more than 675 playing opportunities to junior golfers, ages 12-18. Host facilities include St. James Plantation (Southport, N.C.), Marshallia Ranch Golf Course (Vandenberg AFB, Calif.), Mission Inn Resort & Club (Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.), Brookhaven Country Club (Dallas, Texas), Green Garden Country Club (Frankfort, Ill.), The Country Club of Mendon (Mendon, N.Y.), Oak Valley Golf Club (Beaumont, Calif.) and Chateau Élan (Braselton, Ga.).

“We are thrilled to become part of the AJGA Preseason Junior Series,” said Chris Hunkler, Golf Academy of America president. “The opportunity to see young men and women play the game and who may have an interest in a career in the golf industry certainly fulfills our mission".

The Series is designed specifically for first-time AJGA members or those members who have not yet been accepted to or participated in an AJGA Open event, AJGA Invitational or Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series event in the current calendar year and/or the previous calendar year. For eligible juniors, participation is limited to one Golf Academy of America Preseason event per calendar year provided the junior has not yet been accepted to or participated in an AJGA Open event, AJGA Invitational or Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy / Montverde Academy Junior All-Star Series event.

“We are very excited to have the support of Golf Academy of America,” said Jason Etzen, AJGA executive vice president of corporate partnerships. “The Golf Academy of America Preseason Series will give many AJGA members their start to competitive national junior golf.”

Golf Academy of America, with four campuses located in San Diego, Orlando, Myrtle Beach and Phoenix, is the oldest and largest two-year golf college in the world. GAA's 16-month program balances classroom studies, practical experience and comprehensive understanding of the business of golf.
