Raising the Bar for Giving Back to Junior Golf

Individual tournaments must exceed expectations in order to best support the overall growth and development of junior golf on a local level. The Birks & Mayors Junior Championship at Mirasol did that in 2007, and earned the AJGA Charitable Giving Award, given to the tournament whose fundraising efforts resulted in the most amount of money given back to junior golf.

Enhancing the AJGA’s mission statement of giving back to grass-roots golf, the Birks & Mayors Junior Championship at Mirasol is a prime example of the AJGA’s dedication to continuing to develop golf’s next generation. In 2007, Matt Lambert, Meredith Emond and the committee raised and donated more than $44,000 back to the Mirasol Junior Golf program through the Junior-Am fundraiser held in conjunction with the tournament.

“We take a lot of pride and pleasure in hosting this event at our club,” said Joseph Gamlin, director of food and beverage at the Country Club of Mirasol. “Just to be part of growing the future of golf is really what its all about.”
