Setting the Standard for Junior-Ams

Junior-Ams are designed as a way to raise money for AJGA tournaments and for local junior golf charities. Chris Dernick and the Tournament Committee at the PING Junior at The Woodlands did more than just the blue print in order to support the event and junior golf in The Woodlands, Texas, community. These efforts earned the event the AJGA Junior-Am Award, given annually to the tournament that exceeds expectations in fundraising and contribution to a junior golf charity.

In 2007, the tireless works of Dernick and Bret Snortland did not go unnoticed. Dernick, Snortland and their committee managed to raise more than $81,000. Each Junior-Am participant and junior player received PING golf bags, compliments of PING.

“I want to thank PING for being such a wonderful sponsor,” said Dernick. “It was wonderful to work with them. They had wonderful ideas that helped drive more participation to the Junior-Am.”
