Strauss Named Media Award Winner

Kris Strauss of Scottsdale, Ariz., has dedicated plenty of hours over the past few years in assisting the American Junior Golf Association’s Communications Department. Kris is the director of sales and marketing for OB Sports and is on a mission to ensure the best media coverage for numerous AJGA events each year. In 2007, Kris was the Media Chairman for the ReBath Heather Farr Classic, the AJGA Las Vegas Junior and the Dalhousie Junior Championship. Because of his efforts, the AJGA was pleased to present him with the Media Award during the recent Digger Smith Awards Banquet.

“The efforts Kris has put forth are evident in the results,” said Manager of Media Relations Drea Braxmeier. “Not only does his work make my job easier, but it also generates much appreciated publicity and goodwill of the AJGA and OB Sports.”

Each of the three events, hosted on OB Sports properties, garnered some of the best media attention of the 81 tournaments the AJGA staged in 2007. The ReBath Heather Farr Classic generated media interest from newspapers, television and radio. Each day, live television and radio remotes were held at Longbow Golf Club with numerous players and other guests were interviewed. Kris went above his call of duty to ensure the media received proper hospitality throughout the tournament. The same efforts were made at the Las Vegas Founders Junior Golf Championship and the Dalhousie Junior Championship, where media were on site everyday.

In 2008, Kris will once again be assisting with media efforts for these three events, as well as the Horseshoe Bend Junior Championship, which is being held at Horseshoe Bend Country Club in Roswell, Ga.

“It truly was a team effort,” said Kris. “I could not have done this without our wonderful group of supporters.”
