Unforgettable Experience

Local organizers of The PING Invitational, which took place at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla., October 5-8, 2007, were honored with the Invitational of the Year award, given annually to the tournament that showcases the AJGA, its members, sponsors and host facility better than any other event on the Association’s 81-event schedule.

Wanting to top last year’s numbers, the citizens of Stillwater came out in groves. More than 200 Stillwater residents came out to volunteer at the four-day event. Held at the home course of the Oklahoma State University Golf Team, the event was headed by Tournament Chairman Joe Haney and Director of Golf Scott Davies both of Stillwater. Several parties came together to execute a flawless event, including the staff at Karsten Creek Golf Club who maintained a pristine facility and dropped everything to support The PING Invitational. Players were entertained with a trip to Boone Pickens Stadium and the Gallagher-Iba Areana, which left a lasting impression on the players, parents and spectators who were privileged to be part of such an event.

“Speaking on behalf of PING, we feel we are merely doing our part,” said Jeff Brown of PING. “The AJGA lays it out there to try to attain the unimaginable, but each year it’s accomplished.”
