Trader Joe's to Sponsor AJGA Tournament in Northern California
Trader Joe’s Junior Championship to be held July 7-10

Trader Joe’s, a neighborhood grocery store based in California, will sponsor an American Junior Golf Association event, the AJGA announced Friday.

The event – known as the Trader Joe’s Junior Championship – will be held at Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton, Calif., July 7-10.  The 99-player, 54-hole tournament will feature the nation’s top junior boys and girls, aged 12-18.  A Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament, similar to the PGA TOUR’s Pro-Am, will be held Monday, July 7 at 1:30 p.m.  The first round will be held on Tuesday, July 8, with the second and final rounds being held on Wednesday, July 9 and Thursday, July 10, respectively. Tee times will run each day from 7-11:48 a.m., off the No. 1 Tee.

According to Jon Basalone, Senior Vice-President, Marketing for Trader Joe’s, “We are delighted to sponsor the Trader Joe’s Junior Championship as part of our commitment to support the communities in which we do business.  We look forward to working with the AJGA and the local community to promote and develop junior golf in Northern California.”

Trader Joe’s operates 300 neighborhood grocery stores in 24 states; including stores in Pleasanton, Livermore, Danville, Castro Valley, and Fremont.  Information about Trader Joe’s can be found by visiting their website at TraderJoes.com.

“We are excited to announce this agreement with Trader Joe’s, whose well known reputation for quality and value make it a terrific partner for the AJGA,” said Larry Berroya, AJGA West Regional Director.  “Pairing Trader Joe’s with the wonderful venue at Castlewood Country Club will ensure an outstanding championship for our Northern California members.”
