Emerson to Sponsor AJGA Event

Emerson, AJGA Team Up to Bring Event to Southern California
Emerson Junior Golf Classic to be held Aug. 4-7

Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, will sponsor an American Junior Golf Association event, the AJGA announced Friday.

The event – known as the Emerson Junior Golf Classic – will be held at the Carlton Oaks Country Club in Santee, Calif., Aug. 4-7.  The 99-player, 54-hole tournament will feature the nation’s top junior boys and girls, aged 12-18.  A Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament, similar to the PGA TOUR’s Pro-Am, will be held Monday, Aug. 4 at 8 a.m.  The first round will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 5, with the second and final rounds being held on Wednesday, Aug. 6 and Thursday, Aug. 7, respectively.

According to Dick DuBois, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Marketing for the Embedded Power business of Emerson Network Power, “We are delighted to sponsor the Emerson Junior Golf Classic. We share the AJGA’s ideals of supporting the development of young talent, and believe that competitive events such as this help foster skills which will prove invaluable to students seeking college or university placement, and later, employment.”

Emerson Network Power is part of the global technology company, Emerson. Its Embedded Power business embraces two of the best-known brand names in the industry – Astec and Artesyn – and forms one of the world’s largest and most successful power supply companies. Its products are used extensively in the communications, computing, storage, business systems, test, instrumentation, medical and industrial equipment industries. The Embedded Power business employs some 27,000 people - including 1,300 professional engineers - and is active in every major country. The company’s headquarters are located in Carlsbad – about 40 miles from Santee, which is on the outskirts of San Diego.

“The AJGA is very pleased to announce this agreement with Emerson Network Power, which will benefit junior golf in Southern California,” said Larry Berroya, AJGA West Regional Director. “The Emerson Junior Golf Classic will serve one of our strongest membership areas, and will give local San Diego and Southern California juniors an opportunity to compete at the national level and gain exposure to college scholarship opportunities.”
