AJGA Members Selected For Evian Masters Juniors Cup
International mixed-team event to take place July 19-20 at Evian Masters Golf Club

Kyung Kim

Kyung Kim of Chandler, Ariz., Annie Park of Levittown, N.Y., Trey Kaahanui of Tempe, Ariz., and A.J. McInerney of Henderson, Nev., were selected by the American Junior Golf Association to represent the United States in the second-annual Evian Masters Juniors Cup taking place July 19-20, 2008. The Evian Masters Juniors Cup, which will be staged at the Evian Masters Golf Club in Evian les Bains, France, will immediately precede the Evian Masters – one of the world's premier women’s professional golf events.

Annie Park

Conducted by the French Golf Federation and the European Golf Association, the Evian Masters Juniors Cup is an international mixed individual and team competition that will be decided over two 18-hole rounds. A boys’ and girls’ champion will be crowned along with a Nation’s Cup, a team trophy that will be determined by the three best scores each day.

In an effort to remain objective in the selection of the U.S. team, the AJGA used its Polo Golf Rankings to award playing spots to the most deserving members who fit the age criteria of being 14 years or younger.

Kim ascended to the 34th position in the Polo Golf Rankings on the strength of her win at the ReBath Heather Farr Classic in March. Playing in only her third AJGA event, the 14-year-old carded a 70-68-71 – 209 tournament total to overtake Rolex Junior All-American Danielle Frasier of Encinitas, Calif., who led the event heading into the final round. She is the second-highest ranked junior girl in the class of 2012.

Trey Kaahanui

After recently winning the AJGA Cliffs Championship in April, Park has seen her Polo Golf Ranking rise to No. 26, making her the second-highest ranked 2013 graduate. Through one year of competing in AJGA events, Park, 13, has never finished outside the top-10 in her seven career starts.

Kaahanui made the junior golf world take notice when he posted back-to-back 65s at the ReBath Heather Farr Classic. He would go on to win the event by five strokes over a boys‚ field that included six Rolex Junior All-Americans. At the 45th spot in the Polo Golf Rankings, the 14-year-old is the top-ranked 2012 graduate in the country.

AJ McInerney

McInerney, also 14, won last year’s Junior All-Star at Lake Havasu after posting a 67-69-74 – 210 tournament total. He would go on to fare well in AJGA Open events, finishing in the top 15 at the CORE Reality Holdings Junior Classic and TomatoBank Northern California Classic.

Last year, the U.S. Team of Erynne Lee of Silverdale, Wash., Grace Na of Oakland, Calif., Jordan Spieth of Dallas, and Justin Thomas of Goshen, Ky., finished third in the team competition, posting a 438 two-day total. Only Japan (428) and Spain (436) finished the 36-hole event in front of the American squad. Leading the U.S. Team, Thomas finished second in the Boys Division and third overall by carding a two-day 72-70 – 142 tournament total.

The U.S. Team will be escorted by AJGA Vice President of Player Services Rob Jansen and Pat Saunders, a long-time AJGA Board Member.

When the competition is complete Sunday, July 20, players will be tournament guests during the Evian Masters practice round and will take part in a player meet-and-greet Tuesday, July 22. Additionally, the three players with the lowest aggregate score - boys and girls combines - will take part in the Rolex Pro-Am Wednesday, July 23.
