Isabelle Lendl of Bradenton, Fla., started 2008 off with a bang as she won the Ione D. Jones/Doherty Championship , defeating Curtis Cup team member Meghan Bolger, 1 up, January 19. The event was held at Coral Ridge Country Club in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
A three-time Rolex Junior All-American, Lendl defeated sisters Marika and Daniela, both of Bradenton, on her way to victory. Daniela succumbed to Isabelle during the Round of 16, 4 and 2. Marika lost to Isabelle during the Semifinals, 4 and 2. Marika was the defending champion of this event.
Alexis Thompson of Coral Springs, Fla., took home medalist honors during the stroke play portion of the Ione D. Jones/Doherty Championship after shooting a 68.

AJGA alumnae Jennifer Rosales and Dorothy Delasin were victorious at the Women’s World Cup of Golf, January 20 at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City, South Africa.
The PGA TOUR’s Bob Hope Chrysler Classic was an exciting tournament won by AJGA alumnus D.J. Trahan. It was Trahan’s second PGA TOUR victory. He overcame a four-shot deficit to defeat fellow former AJGA player Justin Leonard.
