Jerry Cole Sportsmanship Nominations Sought

The Jerry Cole Sportsmanship Award is presented annually to an AJGA golfer who displays integrity and respect for the game. Golf is a game rich in tradition and the AJGA believes it is important to promote honor and sportsmanship among golf’s next generation.

Is there an AJGA golfer who you would like to nominate for the Jerry Cole Sportsmanship Award? Past recipients of the award have displayed sportsmanlike behavior on the golf course and in life. This can be seen in the way they overcome adversity, serve others, live their lives with integrity, and impact others with their positive attitudes.

Last year’s recipient, Joe David of Madison, Tenn., represented all these ideals. His quality behavior on the course was only part of his story. His dedication to the game, willingness to help children learn the game, and the lasting impressions he made on so many people, gave a more complete picture of the type of person David was and continues to be.

These are the type of stories the AJGA wishes to tell each year in its effort to promote the ideals of golf. To submit a nomination, please submit the following information to award@ajga.org :

  1. Name and hometown of nominee
  2. Detailed explanation supporting your nomination
  3. Your name and contact number

The deadline for nominations will be Wednesday, September 19. The recipient will be honored at the Rolex Junior All-America Awards Banquet November 18 at Ginn Reunion Resort. The player will also be invited to participate in the Polo Golf Junior Classic November 17-23.
Past recipients include Jonathan Moore, Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana, Virada Nirapathpongporn and Jason Gore.
