Sta-Green Brand To Sponsor Care For The Course Campaign
Lawn Care Leader to Help Educate Juniors on Golf Course Care, Maintenance

BRASELTON, Ga. — The maker of Sta-Green® products, a leading lawn care brand at Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse, is taking a new approach to growing green for 2008 with the title sponsorship of the American Junior Golf Association's Sta-Green® Care for the Course campaign.

The AJGA designed the Care for the Course Program to educate junior golfers on proper golf course care and etiquette. The purpose of the campaign is to educate young men and women about best practices while on the golf course to ensure America’s golf courses stay beautiful. The campaign also stresses the importance of helping to take care of the environment.

"Golf is a game you play for life, and we're thrilled to be part of a program that helps guide young golfers today in how to be responsible on the course and to the environment for years to come," said Jennifer Clark, marketing manager for Sta-Green products.  "We believe that everyone who plays the game has a role in preserving the quality of the course and protecting the environment for generations of golfers in the future.  Whether it is repairing divots and ballmarks on the course, or learning to care for a lawn at home, there are some easy, simple things that golfers of any age can do that make an impact."

The Sta-Green® Care for the Course initiative began in 2007 and activities were planned for all 81 AJGA events. More than 3,078 man-hours have been dedicated to the program. At association tournaments, a “Care for the Course Party” was held in which juniors and AJGA staff members gathered to replace and fill divots and repair ball marks.

Players learn how to properly repair a ball mark at the Junior All-Star at Aspen.

“What a great experience to see these young players show respect for the course they are playing,” said Peter Dinsmore, president of Tedesco Country Club, which hosted the AJGA’s Fidelity Investments Junior Classic. “This has set a great example for our membership, especially our juniors.”

Tommy Kennedy of Mission Hills, Kan., was one of 30 juniors to participate in one Sta-Green® Care For the Course Party at Indian Hills Country Club on Aug. 1. The club’s superintendent Aaron Willing gave AJGA staff members and juniors a tutorial in proper filling of divots.

“This was the perfect opportunity to give back to my home course,” Kennedy said.

Sta-Green® products are manufactured by United Industries Corporation, a leading marketer of consumer lawn and garden products that provide practical solutions for seasonal needs at value prices.  Sta-Green products are available exclusively at Lowe's and come with a money-back guarantee printed on every package.  From lawn fertilizers, growing media and mulch to insect, and weed control, Sta-Green products are the perfect blend of science and technology at an affordable price.

“The AJGA is excited that the maker of Sta-Green has joined our initiative to teach our junior members about proper golf course care and maintenance,” said Jason Etzen, AJGA executive vice president of corporate partnerships. “Proper golf course care is essential for the next generation of golfers to learn.”
