College Round-up

Virginia Tech won the team title at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges , their first victory since capturing the ACC Championship last season. The Hokies shot a combined 12-under-par 852 to finish in a tie with North Carolina, but claimed victory thanks to a lower fifth-man score. The Hokies were led by British Amateur champion Drew Weaver, who has finished in the top 10 in all three starts this season.

Alabama set a new tournament record at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate with a 42-under-par 810. The Crimson Tide were led by Mark Harrell, who tied for the individual title with East Tennessee State’s Seamus Power. Both fired 15-under-par 198s for the tournament.

Florida won the Mercedes-Benz Women's Championship with a 13-under-par 865, five shots ahead of Purdue. Florida's Sandra Gal won the individual title, beating Auburn's Cydney Clanton in a playoff. Clanton fired a final-round 68, including two birdies and an eagle in her final four holes, to advance to the playoff. Sweden's Caroline Hedwall and Arkansas' Stacy Lewis tied for third place.

Southern California captured the team title at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational , besting Arizona State by nine strokes. The Trojans were led by Belen Mozo, who earned co-medalist honors with Arizona's Alison Walshe after both fired 1-over-par 217s, and freshman Lizette Salas, who tied for fourth place with a 4-over-par 220.

Tennessee-Chattanooga won the Hawkeye Invitational for their third consecutive victory of the season. The Mocs are in their first season of competition since 1984. Wisconsin's Katie Elliott captured medalist honors with a 1-over-par 217, good for a six-stroke margin of victory.

Professional Round-up

Lorena Ochoa won her seventh LPGA Tour event this year. Ochoa captured the Samsung World Championship with an 18-under-par 270. The win gives Ochoa her second consecutive LPGA Player of the Year award.
