Newsmakers (July 18): Moore Continues Hot Streak, Wins Publinks

Lang Wins Trans National, Byrd Captures B.C. Open

Ryan Moore of Puyallup, Wash., won his second U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in three years at Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove, Minn. Moore's win continues the torrid pace he has kept all summer, with wins at the Mountain West Conference Championship, the NCAA Championship and the Sahalee Players Championship. With the win, the three-time Rolex Junior All-American earned an invitation to next year's Masters tournament, where he made the cut in 2003. Read more about Moore's victory at golfweek.com .

Duke star Brittany Lang defeated former teammate Leigh Anne Hardin at the Women’s Trans National Amateur to add another trophy to an already impressive resume. Lang, the College Freshman of the Year, and Hardin, an NCAA All-American, were both first-team Rolex All-Americans during their AJGA careers.

Jonathan Byrd, an honorable mention Rolex Junior All-American in 1996, fended off a bevy of challengers to win the B.C Open. Read pgatour.com's take on how it all shook out in Endicott, N.Y.
