EasyCare, AJGA Bring
Tournament to Lexington
National junior event to be played
at Andover Golf and Country Club
EasyCare has signed a three-year contract to become the title
sponsor of a new American Junior Golf Association tournament
to be held at Andover Golf and Country Club in Lexington,
Ky., the AJGA announced Thursday.
“The AJGA is excited about the new partnership with
EasyCare,” said Jason Etzen, AJGA executive vice president
of development. “This tournament will draw a great field
and give Kentucky juniors an opportunity to play in a national
event on an exceptional course while attracting more national
attention from college coaches.”
EasyCare is a product of Automobile Protection Corporation,
a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. Recently
ranked as the 71st Best Small Company in the United States
by Forbes Magazine, EasyCare is a leader in the vehicle
service contract industry.
The tournament will be held June 27-July 1, 2004, at Andover
Golf and Country Club, which served as the site of the 1991
Kentucky Open and is one of the most recognizable, popular
and challenging golf courses in Lexington.
“Our primary focus is on junior golf, which is why
we approached the AJGA about hosting an event,” said
Andover’s General Manager Chris McDaniel. “We
feel that hosting this tournament will be advantageous to
both our club and the AJGA. We see it as an opportunity to
show our commitment to junior golf.”
Andover is a par-72 course designed by renowned architect
Clyde Johnson. With its bentgrass tees, greens and bent ryegrass
fairways running through rolling fields and meandering streams,
it is one of the most picturesque courses in the region.
